super smoothie sunday!

sundays are great day for an energy boost and something sweet and healthy...so lets go shopping...these ingredients are needed to make the perfect fruit smoothie along with a decent 32 oz. blender.

1/2 bag of frozen wild maine blueberries
1/2 bag of frozen raspberries
1 ripe banana
6 pitted dates
6 dried black mission figs
16 oz. cranberry or grape juice
2 heaping tablespoons of rice or soy protein powder
optional for vegetarians: 3 tablespoons of plain yogurt

pour juice into blender and add banana and dates
blend on high and begin adding figs (cut off stem remnants)
add berries 1/4 cup at a time with blender running on high.
add protein powder and blend till preferred consistency is reached... you can add or subtract juice to achieve thicker or thinner drinks...

makes about 2 16 oz delicious, healthful smoothies that would make jack lalanne proud!

cost is about $6 or $3 each..with berries dates and figs left over for next time!

Note..look for wyman's wild maine blueberries...they are delicious.
